I was in the charming seaside fishing village of Tomonoura yesterday. Tomonoura was, incidentally, the inspiration for the village where the animation Ponyo was set. I’ve been there before with my with my mother and sister when they came to Japan, taking some touristy pictures, but this time I was there filming a TV programme – using the very same camera, a canon DSLR.
The director wanted to try a different style of filming for this programme so found me via this blog – Hi! The programme is about the smart phone app that a university teacher has developed to guide people around Tomonoura, so we followed him and a couple of his students around for the morning. The director was great to work with – leaving me to pretty much film how I wanted to and the professor and students were fun to film. Filming the second part at university.
I have edited all the stuff I have filmed so far so not sure how the the editor will be able to stitch something together from what I have filmed but looking forward to finished programme.
