the rain in the morning lifted and remaining clouds over the mountain behind the shrine actually gave the wedding a great atmosphere.
filmed in early 2010, this is almost certainly the first wedding movie filmed on a DSLR camera at the Itsukushima Shrine, Miyajima Island, and it was the first wedding I had ever filmed.
a rock and roll version and a classical music version are also available. the rock and roll version goes surprisingly well with Miyajima!
itsukushima shrine wedding and kimono shoot at miyajima
this wedding film shot at Miyajima, an island off the coast of Hiroshima, Japan, starts and finishes with the couple having some green tea, sitting outside at a traditional tea shop. the day started with getting dressed up in a kimono then a ride to the world heritage site, Itsukushima Shrine in a rickshaw. after the shinto wedding ceremony everyone enjoyed a traditional court dance performance and then the couple changed kimonos for a photo session around the island.
by bookending the film with the green tea scenes (picking up the cup at the start, putting down the cup to finish the film) I tried to make it, well, more film-like. hope you enjoy it.
